Real Housewives of New York City!

Okay so I totally love this show. (I'm also a fan of the Real Housewives of Orange County) but what's with this being the "season finale"? They only had like five episodes... well, at least next week there's a reunion!

BTW, have you heard the news that Project Runway is moving to Lifetime?? I don't know how I feel about that.

Three thumbs down on this one Marietta. It may be time to take a refresher correspondance course to renew your red letter days entertainment reviewal certification.

The leads, are obnoxious, dim witted, and pretty boring (This may be fine in the OC buy i find it insulting that its based in nyc.) The kids and the husbands seem the most interesting and they get no airtime. Are you really asking why the season was cut short?

There is more depth in Swing Kids.

Your assessment of the leads are spot on, and I agree that the husband and kids are probably more interesting, but what can I say, I love to see NY on film and the women are nothing if entertaining for their cartoonish nature.

According to the Husband, NPR had a piece on Jerry Springer the other day. Apparently, Mr. Springer has previously characterized his show as "chewing gum"... for the mind. When the Husband asked if the Real Housewives was "chewing gum", my response was, "cotton candy".

Wine-time-girl is in love with this show as well and keeps trying to get me to come over for a viewing party. I did once during the OC endeavor and was kind of bored out of my mind. I can't figure out what's supposed to make the people interesting besides the fact that they have more money than me.

As for comparisons between NYC and LA, my experience has been that the only real difference between the populations is that NYers perceive themselves to be more educated, cultured, and worldly because it's hip in that part of the country while West Coasters are sure that they're prettier and in better shape because that's cool there. In reality, I don't draw much distinction between the two.

Texans, however... ;) Gah, I can't even begin to imagine the gross cowboy/republican/gaudy/oil baron stereotypes they would work desperately to dig up if they were to do a Housewives here.
